The objective of the Tat-Along Project is to have the new and the experienced tatter, as well, to practice the basic techniques and to encourage the tatter to start into designing. The introduction of designing is made when the tatter is encourage to make a variation of the Base Motif and add something different to it. Then the participants scan their variations and post them in a Photo Album for the months Base Motif.
What is a Base Motif?
A Base Motif is a simple motif to which a variation will be add. This Base Motifs can be made alone for practicing and usually will include the basic techniques of Tatting, such as rings and chains.
What's a Variation?
A Variation is anything added to the Base Motif's pattern. A variation can be adding beads, buttons and/or charms, a 2nd round, a different center, another media such crochet, knitting, weaving, hairpin lace, etc. In general, a variation is something that change the original appereance of the Base Motif.
Do I need to Sign Up or Join?
No. The Project started for the members of E-Tatters, but everyone is welcome to make the motifs. You don't need to be member of an specific group. Also, you don't need to make all the motifs or in order. Choose the one you would like to try and go for it! If you need help you can e-mail and I'll gladly help you.
